The Long-Term Risk of Unprotected UV Exposure

Most people think of sunburn as a skin problem, but your eyes absorb the same UV radiation every time you step outside, even on cloudy days. That exposure doesn’t cause noticeable damage in a single afternoon. It accumulates year after year, quietly raising your risk for cataracts and other conditions long before symptoms show up.

A study published in Eye & Contact Lens found that both UVA and UVB rays contribute to cataract formation, and that cutting off this exposure significantly lowers the risk of early cataracts and retinal damage. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays as one of the simplest ways to guard against that lifetime of exposure. Our team keeps this standard in mind when fitting Tiffany frames, making sure the lens you choose meets it without you having to double-check the label yourself.

Meet Dr. Melissa McCulley

Dr. Melissa McCulley, a Fargo native, built McCulley Optix Gallery on more than clinical expertise alone. Her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry gave her a strong foundation, and four years of practice in Minneapolis added depth in specialty contact lenses and low vision care before she returned home to North Dakota.

Outside the exam room, she paints, and several of her pieces hang throughout the gallery today. That same eye for color and composition shapes which Tiffany styles make it onto the shelves, which is part of why patients trust her recommendations on both the clinical and stylistic sides of a fitting.

Getting You Into Tiffany Sunglasses

Talking Through Your Style and Vision Needs

Your visit begins with a conversation about your vision needs, lifestyle, and style preferences. Dr. McCulley or a member of our team discusses any specific concerns you have about sun protection or prescription needs. This helps us narrow down which Tiffany styles will work best for you.

Building Your Frame Shortlist

Based on your consultation, we put together a personalized recommendation that weighs your prescription requirements, your personal aesthetic, and how a frame sits on your bridge and temples. Our team walks you through available Tiffany frame options that align with your goals. You leave this step with a clear shortlist instead of an overwhelming catalog.

Fitting and Lens Preparation

Once you’ve chosen your frames, we handle the lens fitting and any prescription adjustments needed. Our skilled staff carefully measure and adjust each pair for optimal comfort and visual clarity. Every detail gets checked before your sunglasses leave the gallery.

Caring for Your New Sunglasses

We provide guidance on cleaning and storing your sunglasses to keep them looking and functioning their best, including how to use a microfibre cloth and store frames safely in a glasses case. Proper care helps preserve the lens coatings and frame finish for years of use. Questions about maintenance are welcome anytime, not just at pickup.

Checking In After Your Fitting

After your fitting, we check in to make sure your Tiffany sunglasses are meeting your expectations. Any needed adjustments get handled quickly and without hassle. Dr. McCulley and her team want every patient to feel confident and comfortable long after they walk out the door.

FAQs

Do Tiffany sunglasses come with a case or authentication materials?

Yes, most Tiffany sunglasses arrive with a branded glasses case and documentation confirming their origin. Keeping this packaging on hand is useful for storage, resale, or warranty purposes down the road. Our team can walk you through what’s included with your specific pair at the time of purchase.

Are Tiffany sunglasses a good gift?

Tiffany’s reputation as a gifting brand extends naturally to its eyewear, making a pair of sunglasses a thoughtful, elevated present. The brand’s recognizable styling and quality materials give a gift real staying power rather than something that gets set aside. Our team can help you select a frame based on the recipient’s face shape and personal taste, even without them present.

What's the difference between Tiffany's various sunglass lines?

Tiffany produces several distinct eyewear collections, each with its own design language, spanning understated everyday frames and bolder, statement-making optical styles. Some lines lean into vintage-inspired shapes, while others feature modern, geometric silhouettes with signature hardware details. Our team can show you examples of each line during your visit so you can compare finishes and frame shapes side by side.

How long do Tiffany sunglasses typically last with proper care?

With routine cleaning and careful storage, a well-made pair of Tiffany sunglasses can last for many years without losing its shape or finish. Frame materials like acetate and metal alloys are chosen specifically for durability, so normal wear shouldn’t cause premature damage. Bringing your sunglasses in periodically for a quick check helps catch small issues, like a loose hinge, before they become bigger problems.

Can Tiffany frames be adjusted if they start feeling loose?

Yes, minor adjustments like tightening hinges or reshaping temple arms are a normal part of long-term sunglass ownership. Frames can loosen slightly with regular wear, especially if they’re taken on and off frequently throughout the day. Our team offers these adjustments in-house, so your Tiffany sunglasses continue fitting securely well after your original fitting.
